Petition: Light the Cycleway!

We, the undersigned, wish to register concerns about the track running
alongside the Guided Busway, particularly the lack of lighting. This leaves it very dark in the early mornings and evenings, putting cyclists and pedestrians at risk. We call upon Cambridgeshire County Council to:
• light the track outside of daylight hours
• provide signposts to key locations
• mark the track so as to separate cyclists and pedestrians

Background information

The cycleway is well used but is flawed by the lack of lighting along most of its extent. There have already been accidents and collisions, and there is also a personal safety risk, particularly for older people and women.
Some form of lighting is badly needed, even if it is low-level, to avoid future accidents and to encourage use of the cycleway. Signage and demarcation between pedestrians and cyclists would also be of use.
